Paediatric Occupational Therapy
Our paediatric occupational therapists can assess your child to determine their strengths and any areas for improvement.They then will develope an intervention plan in accordance with the findings of both formal and informal assessment. The main focus will be on developing your child's skills and facilitating independence which may include their:
Gross motor skills (e.g. coordination, posture, balance)
Fine motor skills (e.g. handwriting, cutting, drawing)
Social skills (e.g. communication, self esteem, group play)
Independence (e.g. dressing, eating, grooming)
Cognition and perception (e.g. memory, attention, problem solving)
Individual and group programs, tailored to your child, take place within the clinic. Parent education is provided and home programs created to ensure optimum opportunities for your child to learn within the clinic, at school and at home.
Speech Pathology
WCOTS offers speech pathology for children aged 1 through to 12 years of age to develop and enhance the speech and language skills of your child. Services focus on:
Comprehension
Sentence structure/grammar
Vocabulary and early language
Articulation
Social skills/play skills
Story telling/narrative
Phonological awareness
Stuttering
WCOTS also run Sign Speak workshops, which aim to give parents skills in maximising their child's language through modelling that extends into play and other teachable moments.
